Enabling Process Developments and Improvements
ProcessDev, LLC, is a manufacturing process consultancy focused on helping companies turn their product, material, and process concepts into reality, end-to-end. The development process includes generating concepts, evaluating the concepts virtually with models & simulations, designing and analyzing physical experiments, and performing analytics on pilot and full-scale production data.
We work with clients at any development stage, from the fuzzy front end to processes already in production that need to be changed or improved.
Understanding and improving your process
The better one understands the stakeholders of a product or process and the science of how your raw materials are converted into the product that meets what your stakeholders expect, the better the outcomes.
We place a high value on analyzing what the intent of a process is and its requirements, understanding the starting raw materials, understanding the physics and chemistry of the conversion of these materials, the quality of the product and the reliability of the process used to make it. We use a number of tools to generate ideas, evaluate process concepts, design and analyze experiments (both virtual and physical), and analyze process and product quality data from small-scale and full-scale production.

Managing Member
Steve has more than 35 years of experience in Process & Material Development in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry, retiring as a Research Fellow at Procter & Gamble. Trained as a Chemical Engineer, he developed films, nonwovens, laminates and adhesive materials with suppliers. He developed processes and equipment to convert them into finished products like baby diapers. He improved many processes for substrate products including tissue, feminine hygiene and adult incontinence products, wipes, laundry and dish “pods” , pharmaceutical patches, batteries, shaving blades, dental floss, floor cleaning substrates, and packaging materials.
His specific technical expertise is in Web Handling and Converting processes, the technology used to transform continuous sheets of paper, plastic films, metals, nonwovens, and foams into finished products. He also has experience in modeling/simulation, experimental design and data analytics related to manufacturing process data. He is an author and inventor, with several journal articles and patents related to product, material and process innovations and technology.
